PlayStation Reveals Prism Collection DualSense Controllers

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the PlayStation Prism Collection, introducing three translucent colourways for the DualSense wireless controller and matching PlayStation 5 console covers. Revealed on 29 October 2026, the special-edition DualSense controllers carry an official Malaysian retail price of RM419, while the matching console covers are priced at RM369. Neither accessory will be available immediately, with the global release scheduled for 4 February 2027. For Malaysian console owners, the collection introduces a higher pricing tier for aesthetic customisation, alongside the first official translucent shells that expose the internal mechanics of the DualSense controller's adaptive triggers and touchpad components.

Key Facts

The PlayStation Prism Collection encompasses three translucent DualSense controllers and matching console covers priced respectively at RM419 and RM369. Set for release on 4 February 2027, the collection introduces visible interior hardware aesthetics across limited-quantity console plates and standard-run controllers.

The Prism Collection establishes official Malaysian pricing at RM419 for controllers and RM369 for console covers ahead of a February 2027 release.

What Makes the Prism Collection Design Distinct?

The Prism Collection DualSense controllers feature translucent outer shells that reveal the internal electronic components and adaptive trigger mechanics without disassembly. Available in Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Grey, the translucent aesthetic extends across the chassis and touchpad, though the actual shades appear noticeably darker than their official gemstone and mineral names suggest.

Flare Orange presents a deep tone that leans heavily toward red, whilst Emerald Green resembles a dark seaweed hue rather than a vibrant green. Similarly, Graphite Grey carries an underlying blue tint rather than a pure neutral grey. The translucent casing offers a functional visual view of the controller's internal trigger assemblies in motion. For the matching console covers, translucency is restricted specifically to the top plates.

The Prism Collection marks the first official DualSense release to offer visible mechanical views of the internal adaptive triggers through a translucent casing.

How Much Will the Prism Collection Cost and When Does It Launch?

Sony has priced the Prism Collection DualSense controllers at RM419 and the matching console covers at RM369, positioning them above standard colourway variants. Both accessory lines are scheduled to launch globally on 4 February 2027, requiring prospective buyers to wait several months following the initial October 2026 announcement before securing units.

The console faceplates are produced under strictly capped manufacturing volumes, unlike the standard production controllers. According to official disclosures, the console covers will be available in restricted numbers, while regional logistics may also influence broader rollout schedules.

At RM419 for the DualSense and RM369 for the faceplates, the Prism Collection commands a premium over standard PlayStation 5 accessory variants.

What It Means for Malaysian Buyers

Malaysian gamers face an elevated price point of RM419 for the Prism Collection DualSense controllers, which represent a premium investment for cosmetic novelty. With local availability slated for 4 February 2027 alongside regional distribution caveats, local buyers should weigh the mechanical visual appeal against standard DualSense options already circulating at lower prices.

While official Malaysian ringgit pricing has been confirmed, Sony's stipulation that release timing may vary by territory means local delivery dates remain subject to distributor confirmation. Those seeking to pair controllers with matching translucent console covers face additional friction due to limited production allocations. Buyers in immediate need of a replacement gamepad will find little practical reason to wait, as standard functional DualSense units remain readily accessible locally.

Local console owners must evaluate whether translucent aesthetics justify paying RM419 and enduring a multi-month wait until February 2027.
